  • Francois' son not named explicitly in the text or sales. I interpret the original owners as Francois LaFontaine and his son, Toohpia (Francis) Lafontaine. Reserve No. 47 Case Reserve no. 47 belonged to Francis Lafontaine and his son, the case file was not missing. In June 1832, it was discovered that Lafontaine was originally given land on the East Side, but had moved it to the West Side because he liked the location better. Elijah Hayward said that while this was illegal at the time, the reserve should be left the way it is since it had been on the West Side for ten years. Articles of a treaty made and concluded, at St. Mary's, in the State of Ohio, between Jonathan Jennings, Lewis Cass, and Benjamin Parke, Commissioners of the United States, and the Miame nation of Indians.
