Biography/Notes:
The youngest Drake girl was always known by her nickname “Marchie.” She married John S. Hale, a lawyer, in 1907. After the birth of their daughter Jewell in 1908, the family seemed to be on the rise in Miami, when John ran into trouble later that year. According to a short notice in the Miami News-Herald, he was arrested for impersonating a federal officer and was held at the Muskogee, Oklahoma, jail. After he was found guilty, the family moved away from Miami for a fresh start. John Hale returned to law after a short time, practicing in Muskogee by 1912. John was 23 years older than Marchie, and it is unclear what happened to him thereafter, but by 1920, Marchie was married to W. W. Runkle and living in Hugo, Oklahoma. She was living in Oklahoma City when she passed away in 1984.
