  It seems that bad fortune followed John most his life. He married Dolly McFarlin, and they had a daughter, Velma Francis Bright, born in 1892. The little one died at just two years old, followed by her young mother in 1900. By 1910, John had been married and divorced again, to Nettie Rollen. He is last found in the records at age 40, as an inmate at the McAlester (Oklahoma) Penitentiary, charged with assault with intent to kill, after threatening to shoot his father. No living descendants of John Bright are known.
